The Space Coast HBCA maintains a strong relationship with local governments through the exchange of ideas and information between the homebuilding industry and senior staff & elected officials from across Brevard County.

Participation on Key Advisory Boards

Space Coast HBCA members play an active role on government advisory boards that impact the homebuilding industry, including the county’s Planning & Zoning Board and the Board of Adjustment as well as ad hoc committees on specific issues such as inclusionary zoning, workforce housing, and impact fees.

HBCA’s Local Political Action Committee (PAC)

The Space Coast HBCA maintains a PAC, funded through the generous contributions of our members.  This purpose of this PAC is to support candidates for elected office, support business advocacy, and advance our mission of fighting burdensome regulations and unnecessary fees.

How You Can Get Involved

Become engaged in the political process by supporting pro-housing candidates and reaching out to your policymakers on key housing issues.

  • Lobby Legislative Leaders in Tallahassee – Join us January 15-17, 2024, as we travel to Florida’s Capitol to meet privately with Central Florida legislators to advocate for industry priorities during each Legislative Session.
  • Take Action – during Florida’s Legislative session, you may receive Action Alerts from us, asking that you help us contact legislators in support or opposition to upcoming votes. The more people who “Take Action” when we ask, the better we do at conveying the importance of the topic to the industry and Florida.
  • Attend the Space Coast HBCA’s “State of the State Breakfast”, normally held in the spring, where you can learn firsthand from the Space Coast’s state delegation of elected officials what happened in the year’s legislative session. This event is held in partnership with the Melbourne Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Space Coast Association of Realtors.
  • On March 19, 2024, join the Space Coast HBCA, the Titusville Chamber of Commerce and the Space Coast Association of Realtors as we host the “State of North Brevard Breakfast” featuring key elected officials and or community leaders.

Join forces with the Florida Home Builders Association (FHBA), your leading builder advocate, to fight unnecessary fees and seek ways to stop burdensome regulations.

Each year the FHB PAC continues to advance its mission of fighting unnecessary fees and seeking ways to stop burdensome regulations. Through the FHB PAC, we have seen positive results.

In particular, we have pursued issues that has saved you money and increases your bottom line, such as: Workforce Taskforce, Uniform Implementation Workgroup, Reinserting the Shower Pan Exemption, Blower Door Testing, Fire Distance Separation and Zero Lot Line, Sadowski Funding, Accountability for Permit Requests, and more. These victories were the result of intense lobbying efforts, that required us to leverage leadership relationships.

The goal of the FHB PAC is to continue to make a positive difference in the business environment in Florida’s building industry. With the help of donations from supporters such as you we will continue to see improvements.
